        We are crafting our unique whisky in the Kamui geographic region on Rishiri Island.

         

        Our name derives from our location. We will make whisky that lives up to the name and expresses all the terroir of Rishiri.

         

        On Rishiri there are 5 volcanically soaked springs that contribute to the complex taste of our whisky.

        As we built our distillery, we found a new spring! In The future will blend this high-quality fresh volcanic water from our site into our whiskies.

        Kanro Spring

        Rated "Best 100 Waters" in Japan

        Rishiri is a volcanic island created some 900,000 years ago. A "sweet" tasting water, rich in minerals, slowly rises through this old volcanic rock, after the rain and melting snows have spent years locked beneath the lava. The refined complexity of Rishiri's waters have continuously been recognized within Japan as one of the Top 100 water sources.

        Winds from the Sea of Japan

        Rishiri Island lies at the most northern part of the Japan Sea. Our whisky will be aged by the salty winds from the Sea of Japan as they come over the cliffs where our distillery is perched.

        Kamui Genshu

        Our Flavour-led Expression

        Our first, un-aged expression. A very clean mouthfeel. Slightly peated. Described as sweet, with a very interesting Finish.

         

        The heavy salt winds have already infused Rishiri's spirit into our Kamui Genshu. May our spirit strengthen yours.

        We've started distilling from October 2022.

         

        There is an opportunity to be part of a very select group by purchasing a Kamui Whisky K.K. Owner's Barrel, refined by Rishiri's unique terroir.
